INVITATION COUPE DU NORD HELSINKI, SATURDAY 19 March 2011 Ylioppilasmiekkailijat ry - Studentfäktarna rf is organizing Coupe du Nord Helsinki, a World Cup Satellite Sabre Tournament for senior men and an international competition for senior women in Helsinki on 19th March. An international junior competition and a recreational team event for mixed senior teams will be arranged on Sunday 20th March 2011. VENUE The tournament takes place in Töölön Kisahalli sports hall, a historical sports arena that has hosted the Helsinki Olympics in 1952. Over 50 years later, it is still a venue for major sports events and a central location for Finnish fencing. REGISTRATIONS AND INQUIRIES All registrations for the men’s individual competition must be made through the F.I.E. website http://www.fie.ch no later than March 11 2011. Please notice that all the participants for men's individual competition must have a valid F.I.E. license for the season 2010/2011. Inquiries regarding the competition and entries to the senior women’s, junior and team competitions can be sent by e-mail to Finnish Fencing Association ilmot(at)miekkailu.fi ENTRY FEE Entry fee for an individual competition is 25 EUR / fencer. Entry fee for team competition is 40 EUR / team. EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS All fencing equipment must conform to the F.I.E. standards. F.I.E. Satellite and Coupe du Nord rules will be followed. SCHEDULE: Saturday 19 March 2011: Ladies' Individual Sabre (international challenge): Registration and weapon control end at 10.30 Pools begin at 11.00 Men's Individual Sabre (satellite World Cup): Registration and weapon control end at 11.00 Pools begin at 11.30 Sunday 20 March 2011: Open junior competition, men / women: Registration and weapon control end at 9:30 Competition begins at 10:00 Open team competition, mixed senior: Registration and weapon control end at 10.30 Competition begins at 11.00 THE COMPETITION FORMAT / INDIVIDUAL COMPETITIONS • one pre-tournament round of pools, no elimination from this round • second round of pools, seeded by the results from the first round, 20-30 % fencers eliminated after this round • direct elimination, seeded by the results from the second round of pools • F.I.E. regulations will be applied OTHER INFORMATION The venue Töölön Kisahalli is in the city centre, next to the Finnish National Opera and the Olympic Stadium. Most hotels or hostels in the Helsinki city centre will have public transportation access to the venue. Tram lines 3, 4, 7, 8 and 10 will stop in front of the venue. After the individual event traditional Finnish sauna facilities and a Coupe du Nord banquet will be made available for all participants and their entourage in return for a nominal charge. Huomio! FIE:ltä tulleen tiedotteen mukaan säilällä on ollut ongelmia hanskojen kanssa sillä ehjä terä lävistää hanskan tai menee johtoreiästä turhan usein. Tämän takia kaikki hanskat tulee viedä asetarkastukseen ja ohueksi kulunutta tai reikäistä hanskaa ei hyväksytä. Lisäksi reiän kohta pitää sulkea esim. teipillä ennen ottelun alkua ja tämän tarkastamisesta huolehtivat tuomarit. Lisäksi kilpailun jälkeinen banketti joudutaan peruuttamaan osallistujien vähyyden vuoksi. |
