VETERAN WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Weapons:
Women’s Epée, Men’s Epée, Women’s Foil, Men’s Foil, Women’s Sabre, Men’s Sabre

Accreditation:
The participants will have to present the following documents at the time of the accreditation:
Passport, FIE licence 2008/2009, medical certificate (attesting the aptitude of the participant to practise fencing) and non-liability note (signed letter).

Categories:
The participants will be divided into 3 groups according to their age as it appears on their passport:
- Category A: 50 to 59 years old on 1 September 2009
- Category B: 60 years old and over on 1 September 2009
- Category C: 70 or over on 1 September 2009 (as a trial and for men’s events only)

Prize:
Gold, silver and two bronze medals as well as diplomas for each category.
Formula :
Pools of 6 or 7, bouts of 5 hits in 4 minutes. After the pools, direct elimination in 10 hits, 2 rounds of 3 minutes, with a one-minute break between each round. If there are fewer than 10 fencers in a category: single pool.

Entries:
The number of entries per federation is limited to 4 participants per country and per weapon. For each participant, the entries must be sent by his/her national federation before the deadline, 1 September 2009, using the form on the following website: http://www.veteransfencing2009.ru/ and sending it via email to: mailto:escrimerus@roc.ru
An entry fee of 55 Euros per competitor must be paid before 1 September 2009 by bank transfer or cheque to the Russian Fencing Federation or on the spot.

Referees:
Participating delegations must be accompanied by the number of A or B referees provided for by article o.81 of the Rules:
1 to 4 fencers = no obligation; 5 to 9 fencers = 1 referee; 10 fencers or more = 2 referees. Cf. Article o. 81. 3 in the event of absence of the required referees.

Fencers’ equipment:
The fencers’ personal equipment must comply with the FIE rules. However, the following are not mandatory: transparent mask, bib in foil (will only be mandatory for the Veteran Championships in 2010). There will not be any video refereeing. The checking of equipment will be carried out on the day before the competition.

FIE Licence:
The participants will be asked to present their FIE licences at the time of accreditation.

Travelling and accommodation:
Travelling, accommodation and food will be at the participants’ expense.
