KUPITTAA TOURNAMENT 2008 Competition Invitation FIE Satellite http://www.kupittaatournament.fi/?lang=en Turku Fencing Club has the pleasure of inviting you to the 30th international fencing competition, Kupittaa Tournament 2008. The competition takes place on 18.-19.10.2008 in Turku Finland. Date and venue: 18.-19.10.2008 - Kupittaa Sportshall, Kupittaankuja 1, Turku Categories: Epée Ladies and Men, individual FIE Satellite (18.10.08) Epée Veterans Ladies and Men, individual (19.10.08) Epée Men, team competition (19.10.08) Program: Friday, 17th October 2008 19h00 – 20h00 Equipment control Saturday, 18th October 2008 Epée Men, individual FIE satellite 8h00 – 9h00 Equipment control 8h30 Last entry 9h30 Start Epée Men 19h00 Final Epée Men (4 best fencers) Epée Ladies, individual FIE satellite 10h00 – 11h00 Equipment control 10h30 Last entry 11h30 Start Epée Ladies 19h00 Final Epée Ladies (4 best fencers) The finals (Ladies and Men) will take place in the hall 994 of Hotel Caribia (Kongressikuja 1, Turku). The transport for all finalists will leave in front of the Kupittaa Sportshall at 18h30 at the latest. Gala Evening – celebration event of the 30 years of Kupittaa Tournament and the 70 years of the Turku Fencing Club. The special coctail party will start after the finals. Tickets for sale (à 30 euros) in the competition office. Welcome to join this memorable party! Sunday, 19th October 2008 Epée Men, team competition 9h30 Last entry, Epée Men, teams 10h00 Start, Epée Men, teams Epée Veterans Ladies and Men, individual 10h30 Last entry, Epée Veterans Ladies and Men, individual 11h00 Start, Epée Veterans Ladies and Men, individual Competition formula: Epée Ladies and Men, individual FIE satellite: two rounds of pools followed by direct elimination. Position in the table of the direct elimination will be defined by the results of the 2nd round of pool only. The bronze medal will not be fenced. Epée Veterans, Ladies and Men, individual: one round of pool followed by direct elimination of 10 points. The categories will be fenced separately if there are at least 3 participants per category. The bronze medal will not be fenced. Please note: the age difference (by the dates of birth) of more than 10 years between the fencers will be compensated in favor of the older person: the younger fencer will have one negative point (-1) in the start of the match. In case of age difference of more than 20 years, the compensation will be -2 points. This is applicable also in direct elimination and in the start of the eventual second set. Epée Men, team competition: 3+1 fencers. Direct elimination. The ranking is defined by the results of the individual FIE satellite competition of the 18th October 2008. At least 2 fencers of the team must represent the same club. No female fencers. Please confirm the names of the team fencers at the latest on Saturday 18th October at 16h00 in the competition office. The bronze medal will be fenced. Registration: Epée Ladies and Men, individual FIE Satellite: Each fencer must have the valid FIE licence. Each licence must be registered officially in the FIE system and visible at the FIE website(www.fie.ch) by the 10th October 2008 (10.10.2008) at the latest. Epée Veterans Ladies and Men, individual and Epée Men team competition: last date for the registration is the 8th October 2008 (8.10.2008) to the secretairy of the Turku Fencing Club, Mrs Nina Hyvönen: Email: nina.hyvonen@gmail.com Tel: +358 40 544 1210 Muntionkatu 5 B 6, 20740 Turku, Finland Inscription fees: Epée Ladies and Men, individual: 20 euros per person Epée Veterans, Ladies and Men, individual: 10 euros per person Epée Men, team competition: 20 euros per team All the payments at site and only in euros. Rules: According to the general FIE rules. The FIE blades are not obligatory. The name of the person and the country on the back of the jacket and the country flag on the trousers are obligatory. Referees: According to the general FIE rules (art. o.81): every country with more than 4 fencers per category must present at least one referee, and with more than 9 fencers per category at least two referees, etc. The penalty fee per referee not-presented for the matches of direct elimination of the individual FIE Satellite competition, is 50 euros. The penalty will be payed during the registration. The two rounds of pools will be judged by the fencers themselves.
