Invitation - Coupe du Nord Sweden 19 - 20 February 2005

Welcome to Örebro, Sweden and Le Duel - Coupe du Nord 2005. This year we celebrate 10 year anniversary of the tournament. Le Duel is a FIE satellite tournament, It’s a challenge for world cup points! The individual finals will be held at the historical Örebro castle, built in the middle of the 13th century by the Swedish king Magnus Eriksson. The challenge-prize is an inscription on the beautiful sabre from the late 19th century donated by the legendary Swedish fencer Carl-Olof Enhagen. The winner in the men’s and women´s sabre will also be awarded 100 €.

Saturday’s competition and the team competition on Sunday will be held in Karolinska Skolan, Olaigatan 25. The individual finals (Saturday) at Örebro castle.
We will arrange a dinner Saturday evening, we will send out more details later. We hope you will join us.

All fencers must register before 11:th of February to the Swedish Fencing federation, Idrottshuset, Mårbackagatan 19, S-123 43 Farsta, Sweden, Email: info@fencing.se. Please state your name, nation, club, age and FIE license number. All men must have FIE licence for 2004/2005. Entry fee SEK 100:- / fencer (individual) and SEK 100:- / team. Late entries will only be exepted if there is space.


The competition format
• One pre tournament round of poules seeded on the formula laid down in the Coupe du Nord rules. There are no eliminations from this round.
• One round poules seeded on the indicators of all the fencers in the pre round. 20-30% of the fencers will be eliminated after this round of poules.
• Direct elimination, seeded on the results from the second round of poules, without reperchage, to the final eight.
• FIE rules will apply.
• The new lockout timings will be used.
