International Elite Sabre Camp in Atlanta Arkady Burdan and Ed Korfanty invite you to participate in Nellya Fencers International Elite Sabre Camp Atlanta 18-27 July, 2005 Coaches: Arkady Burdan, 2004 United States Olympic Fencing Coach, is one of the most highly qualified fencing coaches, not only in the United States, but also in the world. His professional degrees include the USSR Master of Sports and Honored Coach of the Ukrainian Republic. Since coming to the United states in 1990, Maestro Burdan’s students have achieved great success in the United States and internationally. He has trained Olympians Nhi Lan Le, Emily and Sada Jacobson (Bronze medal, Athens 2004), Junior and Senior World Champions, Pan American Champions, National Champions, NCAA Champions, and Junior Olympic Champions. Ed Korfanty, Coach of Olympic Champion, Mariel Zagunis, has been the Head Coach and Fencing Master at the Oregon Fencing Alliance in Portland for eleven years. He is the U.S. Women’s Sabre National Coach and has guided the Junior and Senior U.S. Women’s Sabre team to multiple World Championship titles as well as many World Cup gold medal team finishes. In 2003, he was the United States Olympic Committee Coach of the year. He is also a two time Veteran Men’s Sabre World Champion. Coach Korfany was born in Poland where he was the Polish National Coach before immigrating to the United States. Plus, other members of the Senior and Junior U.S. Women’s Sabre Squad This is a unique opportunity to train with some of the best sabre fencers in the world as they prepare for the 2005 World Championships under the guidance of two world-class coaches, Arkady Burdan and Ed Korfanty. Camp will be held on the campus of the Atlanta International School in fully air-conditioned, state-of-the-art gymnasiums with 15 fencing strips. The focus of the Camp will be on advanced competition skills, strategy and tactics, extensive bouting, and physical conditioning. The program will include two training sessions per day, with seminars on sports nutrition, strength and conditioning techniques, and equipment repairs. The Camp competition (open to the public) will be held on the last day of Session II. To enroll, please complete all parts of the registration form and mail or fax it, with a $250 deposit, to Nellya Fencers. The rest of the fee is due one week prior to the start of the Camp. Deposit will be returned to you if we are not able to accommodate your request. All cancellations must be received in writing by mail or fax at least one week before the Camp begins. Cost of the Camp: $695 per Session, out-of-town camper ($495 per Session, in-town camper) $1245 for both Sessions, out-of-town camper ($845 for both Sessions, in-town camper) All meals except breakfast for commuters are included. You may register for Session I, Session II, or both. Nevertheless, to fully benefit from the program, we strongly encourage you to attend both Sessions.
